How much Weight can I get in the bed?
2000 4x4 quad cab "short bed" 360 black (the fastest color)
I'm not talking what some sissy engineer somewhere put in a book. I saying real life.
I'm getting rock here after work I will have to drive maybe 10miles all city, not the best roads here in Iowa so some good bumps I'm sure.
I believe the yokoyama AT/S tires are rated d (I know but they were brand new when I bought the truck)
looked under and I have some yellow Monroe shocks. any writing on them has faded.
don't think I have any AAL or anything like that on it.
Hoping for 2000lbs. ???????

ram 1500 is 1000lbs, ram 2500 is 1500lbs and ram 3500 is 2000lbs. you should be fine hauling rock though, i had mine loaded down with brick almost to the top of the bed a couple times and it was fine. it did squat a good little bit and i think that since i've had the truck with all the crap i've had in the bed that the leaf springs are flattening out some. i think that worst case scenario is you may either flatten out your leafs some and could possibly bust one of the shackles that they're attached to. while it would be exciting, it wouldn't be fun. just don't baja it and it should be fine for 10 miles. make sure you turn off the o/d since it'll be city driving and you'll be loaded down. or you could just borrow a trailer from someone.

Sissy Engineers actually test the trucks with those loads, not just run some slide rule or caculator thru some fancy gibberish (even though its pretty accurate) based on mettallurgy and other geekspeak. Of course we also like to sell replacement parts too....
I haven't hauled any rock in my truck, but I have hauled an entire 3 unit tool chest and several milk crates full of air tools, a compressor and welder and a rear seat full of misc crap. You'll be fine for 10 miles if you drive it easy and as suggested leave your od off.
