Default 97 ram 1500 sport cranks but wont start please help!!

I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 sport magnum 5.9 gas engine 4X4 and i was driving taking son to school started right up no problems was driving along and the engine died, pulled over and tried to restart it would crank n crank, let it sit for a few mins then tried again and it would kick over for a second n die out again then back to cranking cranking fast cranking and no start, let it sit for 30 mins on side of road while took son to school n came back tried again no start just cranking, we smelled fuel so its getting fuel, i changed out the coil with a new one and still samething, read could be alternator or battery so hooked it up with cables to sisters jeep and nada still same thing, so not the batt or alt, the neg battery terminal is loose but its functioned for years that way, so all in all its getting fuel with the smell the battery n alt is good, new coil, im running out of options and very little money left and have to get it fixed before wednesday morning, any and all help would be greatly appreciated. it is a 1997 dodge ram 1500 sport magnum hemi 5.9L 4x4 lifted.

no engine light at all? Try cycling the key, on,off,on,off,on and see if it will give you any codes. My first guess was coil, but if you already replaced it,could be a crank sensor or cam sensor. double check all your connections to those parts.

Try unscrewing the pre cat o2 sensor from the pipe/cat and see if it starts. Also get a cheap fuel pressure tester and see what it shows.

ill try those out and see what happens, im having a brain fart on the o2 sensor where would that one be located at so i can unscrew it and check, ive had the check engin light go off a few times for o2 sensors but it would always go back off the next day so never changed them

checked and has spark, listened n didnt hear fuel pump come on, dropped some gas in the distributer and fired right up and went out again, so no fuel. so is either the fuel pump or filter, does anyone know if anyone sales a filter by itself or what i can do for a cheap fix lol im almost sure its the filter but from what ive seen its a on top of pump filter and only seen full assembled kits for 219 bucks

eliminate the cheapest problems first. try switching the fuel system relay in the box in the engine bay. then get a fuel pressure gauge. see if the pump is really the problem first

check the codes w key on/off.

and do as said above, see if it runs w that o2 sensor removed. will be tight. wd40 and tighten it a hair before you turn it out

No cheap fix, the filter is part of the fuel pump. But as stated, swap the ASD and fuel pump relays around with the horn relay for instance, (it's the same) . Try that, if you don't hear the pump, I'm afraid that's it. And don't cheap out on the pump, or you will be replacing it again .
