So it's been quite a while since I've been on here but my truck has started acting funny. Months ago I had a problem with the tcc not locking up, I changed the fluid and filter along with the speed sensor on the side of the trans cause I had a code for it and all was good. Then last week I noticed when the tcc locks up its only dropping maybe 159 rpms. I used be doing 53 mph at 1750, now I'm at like 48 or so. Checked a couple days ago and the fluid is fine and no codes. Well on my way to work I noticed that it won't lockup in 3rd but kinda does in od. Got to work and I've got a p0740 code which I know is the tcc lockup. This trans was rebuilt about 15k ago by a very reputable guy. Also maybe unrelated but every now and then right after start up the truck will idle very low and it sounds like it has a monster cam in it. Pop the gas pedal and it goes away and is fine. The iac should be clean because I cleaned it when I put the new tb on it about the same time as the trans. I have heard of the tps doing weird things with the tcc just wanted some incite.
I'm not 100% sure but I think it may have been a rebuilt stock converter. I just can't find a decent one that's not 500-1k. I just thought it was weird that it won't lock in 3rd.
I just wish I could know for sure. Like I said I had it not locking up at all before so I was thinking maybe the solenoid. I've changed them on my jeep so it's not a big deal.
How do I test the PCM? Or am I gonna have to take it to somebody with a scan tool? Is there anyway I can manual lock the tv? Splice into a wire and see what happens?
PCM just provides ground for the solenoid. It is powered any time the ASD relay is engaged. (engine running, basically) Just find the right wire (wiring diagram will tell you) and put a switch in line and run a wire to a good ground.
