Newbee-1997 Ram tranny problem
Trying to find out what it means to have to gently accelerate to make my vehical go into reverse, followed by a mild clunking when it engages. It is a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9l gas engine. I just put my fluid to the correct level. It was dangerously low. I read on this site that I was supposed to be taking my reading while idling in neutral on the level. That taking measurements while in Park could and or would be faulty. When I followed that advise I found it to be correct and that my fluid level was as I said dangerously low. It seemed to help but didn't come totally back. I put Lucus transmission Fix (one quart in the system plus one quart of my regular oil. Hoping I haven't burn't it up!!!! Would appreciate any advise, or guesses as to what I can do or what I have done. Thanks in advance .

1st and reverse gear issues are usually internal damage/wear-other gears can be a sensor or overdrive issue-Get to a transmission shop that will give you a free diagnosis-if you cant afford to repair it-change ur filter and oil at the least-reverse can go out and u will still have all your front driving gears-fun time trying to remember not to park ina spot that u need to reverse out of though
