5.2 to 5.9, with an auto to manual Swap to boot.
Just picked up a 5.9, with 4000 miles pratically straight from S&J engines, looking to replace my tired, rear main seal leaking, 5.2 with.
Well after a little research on the forum I've found what I believe to be correct when I say that for this process to take place, I need;
A new computer, (as the 5.2 computer will run lean)
A new flex plate
Some say a new torque converter, and some say no, can anyone clarify?
Now I don't want to be annoying when I ask about this 5.2 to 5.9 swap as I've seen alot of threads, but nothing very straight forward or someone uploading everything they have done as a process, as I would like to change that with this.
Now for the parts that I will need, can someone confirm in saying this flexplate is correct link;
I bought the motor without a flywheel either, but I'm expecting that to be the same as the 5.2. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Anything else that I'm missing, if someone could comment that would be great.

Need the flexplate for the 360, use the sensors off the old motor, Get the correct year PCM for YOUR YEAR, and trans, and it is a direct swap. that's why ya don't see many walkthrus for it. It's actually pretty straightfoward. You could even skip the new PCM, and just get a custom tune from Hemifever, and simply update your current PCM.

So it is just a flexplate? Wouldn't that eliminate the need for a new tranny? The tranny in my truck is fine right now, actually just had the fluid filter and everything changed, shop guys said nothing was wrong with it as I want them to adjust bands but they said it wasn't needed.
I figured it'd be pretty easy, but I just want to make sure before I buy all this stuff, rather be safe than sorry, lol.
I e-mailed sean at Hemifever as I already have his tune on my 5.2 conceringthat, but I don't think he really understood what I was saying. I basically just want the tune for a 5.9 and use that to re-program my computer now for that, and wouldn't that work? I don't know, but it makes sense to me, not easy to explain.

yep, 5.9 flex plate, then just get a tune for a 5.9 from sean. thats what he did for me(sorta) my 360 is top end built with all sorts of go fast goodies.
id recommend getting a wideband, aem uego is one of, if not the best wideband on the market. sean will probably want you to have one to maximize your tune, as youre swapping to a bigger motor. so custom tunes will be in order. canned tunes are no longer viable.

My 360 has a comp cams cam, and hs 1.7:1 non adjustable rockers. Along with a Mopar m1 and a 50mm TB. I also have brand new heads from Odessa. The heads are ported and specd for my application. They have stainless 1 piece valves, and .525 max lift springs.
I have a thread in here. Just Google my username with 360 build thread and it should pop up.
Good luck!

However, I do recommend long tubes. The do rub the front driveshaft a bit, but the torque they make the motor have is amazing. I went back to stock manifolds, and noticed a huge loss of low end when I put them on.
My motor will eventually end up in a 2wd Dakota, and long tubes will be back on it!
