Best tire for 36" and under Super Street mud bog?
I apologize in advance to the moderators, I didn't know where to post this. I ran in the local mud bog yesterday with my 99 1500. I still don't know how I did; I left early, here's why. I was running a set of Military 36" bias ply Goodyears on a set of 16.5' military 8 bolt rims. I was running them as a kind of "poor man's mud tire". I put them on the night before, and had to leave the race early enough to change them for my all terrains so I could go to church today. But the guy in the inspection line told me that to be competitive, I need a real mud tire. After running, I believe him. The local mud race category that I want to run is Super Street, tires up to 36" (my 318 has been cammed way up, I'll post it later). I've been comparing tires; for the hellish mud we run in, it seems Super Swamper Boggers are the way to go. But they only come up to 35". Irok Super Swampers come in 36", but I've found mixed reviews on them. These tires will only ever see asphalt going the 10 miles to the mud bog and back, so I don't care about tread life on asphalt. How much difference does one inch make? What do you think? This is thick, gooey mud, the kind it takes a pressure washer to clean off. Thanks!

if your class is 36 and under, I can assure you most guys are running 35s then, with that being said here is your best weapon of choice...

If you want more traction from the super swamper boggers then you should cut that short lug out of them. That's what they do in the hill in hole races here and those tires bite pretty good.
There are a bunch of different ways to cut those lugs out, one of the best I saw was this
This is the guy that owns the local mud track here and he runs cut boggers
How much meat is left on your Goodyears? you could upgrade for free if you get to chopping lugs out of those tires.

I have thought of this; but the rules state uncut, DOT approved tires. I was talking with some fellow runners before the race. They complained about the rule diversity, and said there should be universally agreed upon classes with universally agreed upon rules. I agree! Plus, my racing tires are kinda thin. When I was testing my theories, I ran these on the road as a daily driver. They wore exceedingly quickly; thus, i replaced them with my current tires. I plan on ditching them. Another question is, whether or not I need a beadlocker rim?
