I highly doubt is it as I really don't think that Dodge would use butt connectors in their wiring.
Today I was installing a new head unit into my 04 single cab Hemi. There was a speaker wire spliced into the stereo harness (came with aftermarket head installed) and running into the dash. Decided I dont think I need it so I traced it to the main power in the harness by the steering wheel. Would explain why I couldn't use the accessory to run my radio.
Pulled it (yay now accessory works!) and covered up the connection with electrical tape. Then I noticed this...
Closer look...
Anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram to see what they hacked into and why? Its got one of those microchip security alarms when if the chip is removed the ignition is cut. I'm thinking it could be for that but I want to make sure. I feel like this could be why my cruise control doesn't work...
Many thanks!!

The thick red wire was power for the aftermarket power windows (because these motors that draw amps worth of power can be just t-tapped in, right?) The hodgepodge of other wires is how they decided to install the alarm/keyless entry.
I ripped it all out (literally, all of it) went and found manuals for the equipment and re installed everything -- correctly.
