Red face Caliber 2008 whining noise

I have a 2008 Caliber. Once the car has warmed up and as I accelerate, a whining noise starts up in my car. At first I thought that it was coming from my radio, but it still carries on when I switch it off.

It is very annoying and I am worried that it is something serious that is going to cost me loads one day!

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Does your car have the musicgate sound system? You might check the power steering fluid too. Alternator bearing or drive pulley?

Welcome to the forum. I'm just tossing ideas out there to try to eliminate some possibilities.

Most likely it is the alternator decoupler. The alternator decoupler is a wearable item that everyone in this Dodge Caliber forum will need to buy sooner or later.

It can be serviced seperatly, instead of relpacing the whole alternator. You can buy it at www.iat-usa.com. The correct part number for this application is 920810.

Hope this helps,

Javert.

I've listened to your noise again. It almost sounds like a motor mount as the engine torques forwards or backwards. Hard to tell for sure without my head under the hood as you release the clutch.
