STRANDED 03 Caravan SE 2.4 stalled while driving Help
Please Help
Car cranks over but no start, I am the original owner and never had problems until this.
I have a 03 Dodge Caravan 2.4 never had a problem, always serviced correctly, timing belt changed at 80,00 miles, but Saturday leaving for vacation the van just shut off while driving at 75 mph.
Prior to leaving I had done the following:
changed coil pack
Changed plugs
changed wires
changed oil
changed air filter
Worked perfect the week before we left.
The morning of the trip the battery was completely dead, and gas pedal felt odd like the cable was rusty.
So I replaced battery with new one and sprayed a little white lithium grease on the throttle cable and left on trip everything was working fine.
92 miles into the trip the engine just shut off while driving at 75 mph.
Had it towed to a shop,
They put it on the scanner and no were codes thrown,
all fuses good
all relays good
has correct fuel pressure
current at injectors
Voltage at the coil are
12 volts coil control 2
0 auto shut down
12 volts coil control 1
They think it is a PCM ground problem.
This roads side shop in Redick Florida is asking for $2500 to fix this!
I said no so at this time so it has been towed to Dade City Florida.
Any information to help would be extremely helpful and I would be forever thankful.
Thanks
Joel

Thanks for responding and trying to help!
They said they needed to order and program a new PCM. But they said all the connections looked good no broke wires or connections on the PCM they did not have any other ideas for trouble shooting it. I honestly do not have that kind of money to have them do this.
Car cranks over but never fires.
Thanks,
Joel

coil pack goes directly to PCM drivers if you blow one you'll either get one of those PCM codes that can't be erased and it may still work normal, or you'll get this. Either way you'll be replacing the PCM unless you actually live in FL where there is no OBD inspection.. The POTA is finding what actually caused it; you'll be surprised how many wires can cause this, some you have to take the dash or interior panels off to even reach. No short finder or computer tool on earth can find most of them..
If you're lucky it is just a bad connection on the coil pack or the coil pack iteself..
One good note: All the PCM rebuilders are in FL. You want autocomputerexchange $200-$300 plug and play you might be able to pick it up at the warehouse..

EDIT: On these the injector harness is what commonly causes a blown driver but it's almost always just a 'mismatch code' you can't erase..

I already tried a brand new coil pack with no luck.
I do live in Florida and I just ordered a remand PCM / ECM from autocomputer exchange in Davie. They took my info from the vehicle and said they would have it programmed so I can replace the bad PC one with the new one and I should be good to go for $266.
So will the problem be fixed by replacing the PCM?
I am not sure I understand what caused the PCM to go bad. Do you think I have a broken or bare wire somewhere that shorted out the PCM? Where is the weak point for wires on the 03 caravan se?
Will the short fry the new PCM again? Isn't there a fuse that should go before the PCM?
Thanks for the help.

I agree 100% but I am at a loss this is what I have done so far:
Voltage at the coil:
12 volts coil control 2
0 auto shut down
12 volts coil control 1
They think it is a PCM ground problem.
all of the above has been done.
What else can I diagnose?
There are no codes?
Any additional ideas for diagnosing are appreciated I am at a loss here.
Thanks for the help

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where wires typically corrode or break on the 2003 Caravan SE with the 2.4 engine? I have owned it since new and it has always been in Florida so it pretty clean.
I know wires still get brittle and corrode so if any one has ideas for where I should start looking let me know.
Thanks,
Joel
