Which model year and type of engine is your vehicle? Any other symptoms present? Did anything occur prior to putting the vehicle in neutral that may have contributed to it getting stuck?

From what I understand, your shifter cable was froze. You removed it and used WD40 to free it up. Now you don't know where it attaches back to the transmission. No offense, but using a little punctuation and spell check now and then would make your posts much easier to understand.

Who removed the cable?

If this is something you guys seem to be stuck with, I would recommend letting a dealership work on this for you. If you decide to do so and would like assistance scheduling an appointment, please feel free to reach out to me through PM!
