High Mileage All Terrain Tire Suggestions?
Looking for input on all terrain tires that will get some decent mileage before they wear out.
I put on a set of 285/70/17 E rated Nitto Terra Grapplers this past summer and at 18K miles they are bald. Great tires while they lasted, but I can't afford $1000 + for tires every few months.
Would like something similar in terms of tread aggressiveness.
Looked at the Nitto Dura Grapplers, but need a more aggressive tread, but not as aggressive as mud tires.

I am running a set of Hercules tires for about 64K miles now. They are pretty close to done now. I was down to about 4/32 of tread last time they were rotated (about 4K ago). They are an A/T tire, E load range and were cheap! The down side is the siping was not all the way down into the tread and after the siping wore away wet weather performance declined somewhat. There is a thread in here somewhere when I was ready to buy them asking for opinions on them.

If you want more aggressive than the Nitto's but don't want Mud Tires, look at a set of Pro-Comp's.
The smallest Xtreme AT (which is what I run) is 305/65/17, so they're a bit bigger than what you want, but the regular AT's are available in that size.
They wear like iron and they're relatively cheap compared to some of the others.

Take a look at them and let me know, I have them available if you decide to go that route.
My truck is stock height and I have no issues with the 305/65/17's.
I ran them on the OEM aluminum rims and the current rims I have now.
They will the wheel wells perfect.
Here's a few side shots of my truck so you can see what the 305's look like.....
Here's how far they stick out on my current wheels.....
Here's what they look like on the stock wheels. They don't stick out nearly as far on the stockers.....

Yeah, those look pretty good. I like the looks of the extremes over the "regular" AT's.
If they last 40K as per warranty then they'll definitely be on my list, that's 2x or more over what I got on the Nittos and the prices from what I've seen are only a few dollars more per tire for the Pro Comps.
How noisy are they on the road? I don't mind some noise, the Nittos got a bit buzzy as they wore down, but it never bothered me, I got used to it.
I'd do mudders if they didn't wear down so fast on the road and didn't vibrate the heck out of the truck ;-)

They're not noisy at all. They're a bit louder than stockers, but they certainly don't sing like a mudder going down the road.
I've beat the crap outta mine over the last 2 years and they still have over half the tread left.
