1937 Dodge Pickup Is a Piece of Half-Ton History

A lot of early Dodge pickups received the hot rod treatment, which is obviously not a bad thing. But it’s nice to see this particular example in mostly original condition. The 218 cubic inch flathead inline six still hums away under the hinged hood. The original 3-speed manual transmission still handles shifts. A fender mounted spare is a nice retro touch, as is the rather attractive tan and brown two-tone paint job.

Simplicity was the key back in the early days of trucks, and this old Dodge is no exception. Interiors were spartan, packing only the things you needed to drive from point A to point B. And yet, this pickup is just as clean inside as it is everywhere else. Seeing such a fine example might not be a common occurrence, but it is a welcome one. Because this 1937 Dodge pickup reminds us that even in the early days, the brand was kicking out cool trucks!
