1972 Dodge Challenger 4x4

When you can’t decide between getting a pickup or a muscle car, don’t settle for less than both.

This 1972 Dodge Challenger 4×4, as the owner has called it, is built to a far higher standard than most of the body swaps we’ve run across recently. This ain’t yer’ cousin slapping a Camaro body on his Blazer. This build looks clean and usable according to the pictures and a video the owner posted. Check it out below.

The Challenger sits on a 1977 M1009 military frame and has a 5.7-liter V-8 under the hood. We’re not sure the year is correct, since the M1009 didn’t come on the scene until nearly 10 years later. But, if it is an M1009, that means it’s a bulked up K5 Blazer. From the listing it sounds like nothing has been left to chance on this Challenger, from new accessories on the engine, a new transmission, and some serious four-by-four parts. Those tires are 33-inch BFGoodrich KOs.

Though we expected to find something more redneck, the interior is nicely executed, with a custom dash, classy B&M Quicksilver shifter, and even a backup camera. The seats, headliner, and carpet are also new.

How did something like this make it to the light of day, and end up on Craigslist in the Bay Area? The owner mentions that he initially purchased it in Las Vegas. Enough said? Thankfully, in this case, what happens in Vegas didn’t stay there. We can also safely assume, based on the massive flag flying from the back of the Challenger, that this guy is a proper red-blooded American. That, and he’s driving a Dodge.

Were you thinking about that classic Challenger down the street? Or that really nice pickup your coworker might be willing to part with? Why not settle for both? This thing would turn more heads than the average Challenger, and it looks like you’d have just as good a time off-road as on.
