All-new 2019 Ram 1500 will make its grand debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show.

It has been common knowledge for some time now that an all-new Ram 1500 was coming. Over the past year or so, there have been countless images of the 2019 test trucks with their camouflage. More recently, a photographer caught the new half-ton pickup in the wild without any protective coverings. The truck in those photos appears to be production-ready, so it has been speculated that the next generation truck would debut in LA or Detroit. You can check those images out at Motor Authority by clicking here.

Yesterday, the third quarter financial results were published by FCA and in that PDF is the chart above, which states that the 2019 Ram 1500 will be revealed in January 2018. The only major auto show in January is the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, so it looks as though the next Ram 1500 will debut on the week of January 8th.

Production of the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 will begin during the first quarter of 2018 at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant rather than at the Warren Truck plant. The Warren plant will be retooled to build the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer once Ram 1500 production has shifted to Sterling Heights, with the first next gen trucks arriving by summer.

The New Ram

Next-Gen Ram 1500 to Debut in Detroit

There are no real details on the next generation Ram 1500, but we know that the 2019 model year truck will get a vastly different front end. Gone are the large headlights and the bold crosshair grille, with a narrower grille with horizontal bars and much slimmer headlights creating the new face of the half-ton truck.

Frankly, as a long-time Dodge truck owner, I am going to have a hard time getting used to this sleeker front end design. I do not dislike the look of the Ram in the spy shots linked above, but I’ve come to love the look of the big, bold Ram headlights and grille. I also like the newer non-crosshair grille on the current trucks, as they give the Ram Rebel a very powerful look, but this slimmer grille really is a massive change.

In any case, we will know everything that there is to know about the 2019 Ram 1500 early in January when it makes its debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. When that day comes, you can expect plenty of live shots from the show floor here on DodgeForum.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
