Custom 1968 Dodge Power Wagon

This 1968 Dodge Power Wagon is perhaps the ultimate restomodded pickup with plenty of comfort, power, and style for days.

With collector interest in classic trucks soaring these days, we’ve seen some truly amazing low-mile examples pop up at auction and sell for big bucks. However, unlike many collector cars, older, modified trucks are also bringing in big money these days, for obvious reasons – giving a classic pickup some modern amenities and a newer powertrain essentially creates what one could argue is the perfect vehicle. And for those that love Mopars, this amazing 1968 Dodge Power Wagon set to be auctioned at Mecum’s Indianapolis sale might just be precisely that.

This gorgeous Emerald Green hauler was built by the folks at Hodson Motorsports out of Las Vegas, Nevada, and we’d say they did an amazing job of retaining its original charm while also adding just the right amount of modifications to take it to the next level. On the outside, that means leaving most of the bodywork as-is, though the truck has been lifted and fitted with a set of Fuel wheels wrapped with BFGoodrich mud-terrain tires. Other notable upgrades include custom front and rear bumpers with front KC lights, a Warn heavy-duty winch, and power running boards.

Inside the cabin, the new owner will find themselves awash with luxury thanks to custom brown leather seating, a material that also covers the headliner and door panels. Other custom touches include a Lokar shifter, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, and an aftermarket steering column, adding just the right amount of new to this old cabin.

Pop the hood, and you won’t find some newfangled Hemi or even an old-fashioned powerplant, but rather, a mammoth 512 cubic-inch V8 that’s equipped with a Holley Sniper fuel injection setup, custom headers and exhaust, and an aluminum radiator with electric fans. That monster motor sends power to either the rear or all four wheels via a 700R4 automatic transmission and an Atlas transfer case.

Throw in upgraded axles and brakes, and one wouldn’t be out of line to say that this 1968 Dodge Power Wagon is perhaps the ultimate vintage pickup. It simply has everything an enthusiast could want – killer, timeless looks, loads of power, and a comfortable cabin, not to mention plenty of off-road capability if one dares risk scratching up that beautiful green paint.
