Folks who buy a 2021 Dodge Durango later this week can save thousands, but not on the Hellcat.

In 2019, Dodge introduced the Power Dollars discount program which cut $10 per horsepower on all Charger, Challenger and Durango models. That program was so successful in 2019 that they extended the program onto 2020 model year vehicles. The popularity of the Power Dollars program has led many people to question whether or not the discounts would be offered on 2021 model year vehicles. Considering the fact that the Power Dollars program for 2020 wasn’t announced until early March, we don’t expect the brand to announce their plans for 2021 discounts just yet.

However, with the busiest shopping weekend of the year coming up, starting with Black Friday and extended through Cyber Monday, Dodge has announced a short term Power Dollars program for the 2021 Durango. On November 27, 28, 29 and 30, anyone who purchases a refreshed 2021 Durango can save between $2,930 and $4,750, but it has to be from dealer inventory and the program does not apply to the new SRT Hellcat model.

“If you dance when you’re the only one who can hear the music, does that make you crazy? I guess it depends on whether or not you’re a member of the Brotherhood of Muscle,” said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America. “Because when you’re a member of the Brotherhood and you hear that Dodge is offering its record-breaking Power Dollars on the 2021 Dodge Durango just now arriving in dealerships, you don’t see crazy, you hear music, but only for four days. Is it crazy, even for Dodge? Maybe, but if you’re not first, you’re last.”

Black Friday Dodge Power Dollars

The new Power Dollars program for the 2021 Dodge Durango officially begins on Friday, November 27 and runs through Monday, November 30. It applies specifically to dealer inventory, so you cannot order a vehicle with this program, but if you find a new Durango on a dealer lot that fits your needs, you can save big money later this week.

As has been the case over the course of the past two years, the Dodge Power Dollars program offers a discount of $10 per horsepower. In the 2021 Durango SXT with 293 horsepower, that yields a discount of $2,930. If you get the SXT Plus, GT or V6-powered Citadel with 295 horsepower, that discount climbs to $2,950. The R/T, R/T Tow N Go or V8-powered Citadel each come with 360 horsepower and a discount of $3,600 while the 475-horsepower SRT 392 carries a limited-time discount of $4,750.

The 710-horsepower Durango Hellcat is not included in this program, but even if it was, there are no Hellcat-powered Dodge SUVs currently in dealership inventory.

2020 Power Dollars Continues

While the 2021 Power Dollars program that begins on Black Friday only applies to the Durango, the Power Dollars program for the 2020 model year vehicles continues unchanged. This applies to all 2020 Dodge Challenger, Charger and Durango models, including the 807-horsepower Challenger Super Stock and the 707-horsepower Charger Hellcat. As is the case with the 2021 Durango Black Friday deal, the 2020 Power Dollars program only applies to dealer inventory, but with production of 2020 models being complete, you can’t order a customized 2020 Challenger, Charger or Durango at this point anyway.

Realistically, we don’t imagine that there are many 2020 Challenger Super Stock models sitting unsold on dealer lots, but there are still plenty of Charger, Challenger and Durango models in every other trim on lots around the country. That means that with some careful shopping, you can save thousands on any 2020 Dodge product.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
