Dodge Muscle Takes Over Carlisle’s 2020 Winter AutoFest
AutoFest welcomes Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler vehicles in throes, including modern, vintage, and priceless racers.
Much of the U.S. is still frozen and dreaming of Spring, but that doesn’t stop Carlisle Events from kicking off car show season in sunny central Florida each and every year. Since 2012, the Winter AutoFest has become a favorite among fans seeking a little bit of everything automotive related. This year’s AutoFest continued that tradition in style, packing the Sun n’ Fun Expo Campus in Lakeland with cool cars, an auction, swap meet, and of course, a ton of awesome Dodge muscle cars.
The AutoFest auction was particularly bustling this year, with over 400 vehicles crossing the block seeking new homes. And business was good, as the top five sellers combined to rake in $683,625. Quite a bit of cash and parts changed hands at the nearby swap meet, too. There, roughly 300 vendors occupied 1,000 spaces, offering upwards of a million pieces and parts, collectibles, and automobilia. But even if you weren’t in the shopping mood, there was plenty of other cool stuff to soak in.
There were loads of cars on display, of course. Including an entire Mopar Fun Field that showcased both vintage and modern Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth muscle. There was also a special race-inspired display, which featured its fair share of Dodge and Plymouth iron. Including Richard Petty’s Superbird and a Sox & Martin dragster. Altogether, the race display contained over $15 million in rare and historically significant vehicles.
Carlisle celebrated the 1970 model year’s 50th anniversary with a special display for those cars, too. And the 2020 Winter AutoFest presented attendees with a very cool photo op as well. Since the Sun ‘n Fun Expo contains a functional airport, there were plenty of vintage planes on display as well. Quite a few Dodge fans got pictures of their rides among these awesome machines, which is truly one for their photo album. Or Instagram, of course.
The 2020 installment of Carlisle’s Winter AutoFest turned out to be a fantastic way to spend a long weekend. But as you might imagine, plans are already underway for next year’s event. But you don’t have to wait until then to catch some of this car show magic, as the Carlisle calendar runs all year long. So be sure and head over here to scope out the entire list of upcoming events!
