2019 Ram 1500 Limited is YouTuber Doug DeMuro’s Favorite

By -

Combining the features of a truck and a luxury sedan makes the 2019 Ram 1500 the best in its class.

Well-known YouTuber and automotive reviewer Dough DeMuro recently spent a day with the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited courtesy of Ram of Ontario, California and in the video above, he details all of the things that he likes about this new truck. As it turns out, he likes pretty much everything, going so far as to call it “the new best full-sized pickup truck on the market.”

He begins by calling this Ram the most luxurious truck on the market while pointing out that it has a sticker price of $65,680 – making it one of the most expensive trucks in the half-ton segment. At the same time, this truck is loaded with all of the interior and exterior options, along with the 5.7-liter Hemi with 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque.

Interior Wonders

The lengthiest portion of the video focuses on the interior of the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited, but it doesn’t take long to figure out why. DeMuro begins by talking about the copious amounts of leather with unique stitching just about everywhere, along with loving on the rubber-and-carpet Limited floor mats. He looks at the gigantic center console that contains a small pictorial history lesson on the Ram 1500 lineup and the unusual mathematics information on the bottom of the console lid. He also takes a second to remind us all that Ram isn’t a part of Dodge – for those who haven’t heard about that in the past eight years.

While sitting in the front seat, DeMuro shows us the controls of the panoramic glass roof, the rear sliding window and the power tailgate. He showcases the dual glove box design and he complains about the continued use of the shift knob next to the radio knobs.

Ram Overhead Buttons

Speaking of the radio, he spends a few minutes talking about Ram’s gorgeous 12-inch infotainment screen that is the biggest in any truck and the biggest of any non-Tesla model sold in the US. DeMuro loves the UConnect system, calling it one of the best in the industry before showing off the ridiculous number of bank and restaurant listings included in the navigation system.

Ram Air Suspension Button

Before moving to the roomy rear seats with heated and cooled surfaces, DeMuro plays with the adjustable air suspension, finding an odd amount of humor in the names of the different modes.

Exterior

While walking around the outside of the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited, DeMuro looks at the restyled Ram logo on the tailgate, the soft-open operation of the gate and the LED bed lights that can be turned off by those who don’t want them coming on every time the bed is opened up.

When he moves to the front, he raves about the face and the overall design of the new Ram 1500, discussing the end of the crosshair grille design and offering a detailed look at the adaptive headlights.

On the Road

Finally, Doug DeMuro hits the road with the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited and he has nothing but good things to say. He loves the acceleration and the sound of the Hemi engine. He praises the smooth operation of the eight-speed transmission and he loves the ride quality – comparing it to a high-end luxury SUV.

DeMuro Drives the Ram 1500

He really seems to have no complaints about the drive aside from the fact that the Ram is bigger than his AMG, but he ends the drive by calling the 1500 Limited the perfect combination of pickup truck, luxury sedan and family hauler.

The Doug Score

Like all of DeMuros video reviews, this piece on the 2019 Ram 1500 Limited ends with a look at “The Doug Score.” Keep in mind, these scores are out of 10 in each category, but this scale applies to every vehicle that he reviews, so this truck is effectively compared to premium luxury sedans, muscle cars and everything else.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
