In addition to a Hellephant-powered model, Vigilante Grand Wagoneer gets a handcrafted chassis, Fox 2.0 dampers, and Baer six-piston calipers.

There are many ways to restomod an old-school model. In true Texan tuner fashion, Vigilante 4X4 decided that its Grand Wagoneer reproduction should have enough power to dominate even the most challenging terrain on the planet. In our opinion, the Vigilante Wagoneer is an awesome restomod, thanks to the staggering surprise that lurks under its hood.

The Wagoneer stands pretty much as it used to before with an oversized grille and slim headlights. What stands out, however, is a handcrafted chassis and, of course, the modern powertrain. The chassis is what adds to the modernity of this restomod. Instead of just upgrading the suspension, Vigilante 4X4 designed a new platform from scratch to fit the Grand Cherokee’s body dimensions.

Handcrafting the chassis allowed Vigilante to upgrade other bits, which included installing a modern brake and suspension setup. Vigilante offers its Grand Wagoneer with three engine options. The base version gets a standard SRT V8 which produces 485 HP of power. The more powerful versions are powered by a 707 HP Hellcat motor, and a top-of-the-line 1,000 HP Hellephant engine.

In any of its variants, the power output of this Wagoneer is a major improvement over the original, which was rated at 270 HP. The restomod comes equipped with Fox 2.0 dampers and Eibach coil springs. Vigilante also added Baer six-piston calipers to improve the SUV’s braking power. The company increased the wheel size to 17×8, which gave room to add bigger, ventilated, and drilled discs.

With these additions, it is easy to see why Vigilante claims that its Wagoneer can outperform most modern SUVs. Vigilante’s motto behind the restoration of this old-school Jeep was to “make the ride more comfortable and powerful than ever before.” Vigilante’s CEO, Daniel van Doveren, admits that the construction of the chassis and the overall restoration of the SUV was quite a challenge.

Prices for the Vigilante Wagoneer start at $265,000 for the base model. It will cost you another $15,000 for the 707 HP variant, and if you want the Hellephant-equipped model, be ready to part ways with another $25,000.
