Workshop Takes On Task Of Rebuilding Wrecked Hellcat Redeye

After a “jump” this Redeye seemed to be toast. So the owner offloaded it to an eager workshop.

Would you ever buy a fully wrecked Hellcat Redeye? Well, the folks at Goonzsquad have just done that. Kind of. The story is quite interesting. Prior to arriving at this shop, this Redeye was subject to a joyride gone wrong. You know it went wrong when “jump” is used to describe the ending of said joy ride.

Either way, this MOPAR took a pretty decent hit on the front end, even though it doesn’t look like it on the surface. Front bumper damage is immediately evident, and every single airbag managed to go off. The owner wanted to get what they could for the car and sold it for $30,000. So is it a deal?

Extent of the damage

Well, as the team starts to shed body panels off the car, the overall damage becomes clear. This car took a nose dive right into a dirt embankment. The bumper cover, bumper, frame rails, subframe, and all sorts of cooling components took a direct hit. Suspension and steering components fared much better, but in all terms, this car would have a rebuilt title.

Undeterred, and spurred on by the intact drivetrain, the team set about getting the front end of the car back in order. It must be said that the amount of work to put everything back in place didn’t seem to be much more than an evening’s worth of work. At least with a full shop with a lift, it essentially took as much time as you’d need for a subframe change.

Still, with airbags dangling, the Dodge is a runner. A new subframe is in place, smashed-up coolers replaced with new ones, and a slide hammer straightened out the frame rails in a way that was deemed acceptable. There are many more cosmetic things to fix on the outside, but now it’s ready to scream that supercharger whine once more.

And what better way to do that than with a big ‘ole burnout? With smoking rubber flying everywhere Goonzquad gives the old tires on this MOPAR a proper sendoff, and that signals the next upgrade for this build. Demon build? That is exactly right.
