Default tranny issue help needed

Ok heres my problem i have a 95 es 2.5 and the problem is when i am coming to a stop like at a red light stop sign, etc.... some times my car will like get lost in a gear like it will make a weird soft clunking noise and it will go into limp mode, i turn the key off and on then it will shift and be cool until i stop again then it does it again, and it will do it around 5 ta 10 times, then it wont do it again. It usually only does it after i get on it or if i am driving for roufly and hour or more. i am sorda leanin towards the solinod pack would that cause it to do this? i have no cel or anything just wondering maybe i need a flush in my tranny. its on the list but i got a big list so its hard to do everything at once lol. let me know what you guys think it may be...

thank
joe

Mine was doing something like that too, ended up i was a whole quart low tranny fluid. Make sure you check it exactly the way it call for. Drive for 10 min.. stop, put it in neutral apply your E-brake. Check Tranny fluid, should beat theHOTfull mark at the top.

Do you have a 5speed manual or a 4 speed auto. Because limp-in is for automatic's??

Yes i have the automatic. i know i need a good flush and i know i need the atf+4 and also another thing while driving and taking off from a stop the car will be in first and as i get up around 3k or more or less sometimes it like goes into nuteral and drops in too 2nd and stays there. if i am getting on it heavey it will even spin the tires at about 40 mph when it shifts. im clueless on what it could be but i am thinking it is fluid problem.. guess i will try and fix that one in a week or so.. thanx guys all the help is apprechiated

That can be a fluid issue, slipping out of gear, staying in gear longer than usual, etc. Fluid does so much in a tranny, if it degrades, there are a lot of things that it will no longer do. So, change the fluid to the proper stuff and go from there. There will also always be wear and tear on any mechanical part(s) no matter what you do, so changing the fluid isn't a miracle fix, but it is a recommended, regularly scheduled service that should be done to keep the motor running as long as it can. Doing so, will help eliminate a lot of troubleshooting steps.
Know that heat is a big factor, whether it's with the motor or against it. Nonetheless, heat needs to be taken into account.

Okay no ck engine lite on ? Can you find a DRB3 and look at battery switch voltage, If it reads zero the transmission will go into limp-in. Switch the EATX relay with another relay next to it, relays are above the master cylinder on the firewall. The reason there is no codes, the early dodge cars an mini van wouldn' t set a relay always off or on codes. Once you do find a DRB 3 scanner also ck CVI and preform a clutch test too.
