ok so my car was driving all fine and dandy eversince i bought it in november, today i was driving and my car jerked when i was decellerating and i thought nothing of it, then when i went to accel my car was stuck in second, i read thats limp mode. well, if i pull over just shut off the car and restart the car ( even with no wait time ) the car shifts again like nothing is wrong for a little bit, then just reverts to staying in second gear. so what could it be? why would it just stop? firewall relays? tcm? please help.

my check engine light isnt on, and im guessing to get codes you go ON OF ON OFF ON and its supposed to blink codes, well, my car doesnt blink any codes. when i tryed to get the codes when my check engine light was on for my 02 sensors it would not flash any codes.

 

No you need the TRANNY codes ...

 

what i am saying is my car does not flash codes, i get it, my trans is messed so i need the trans codes. but my car does not flash codes for anything, should i just go to autozone and have them scan it? can they scan a 95 venge?

 

I'm not sure if they can scan the tranny ... I had a tranny shop do it

 

alright, so i went to aamco, they checked my car. They say "your solenoids are good, you have no leaks, your oil is bad, its tarnished and you have foreign debre in it, your trans does not want to go into 3rd or 4th, so your car goes into limp mode, so you need a new 3rd and 4th gear". i don't believe it, i know my oil was bad, i think i would know if i dropped gears. im going to change my firewall relays, ( just want to make sure ), get a input and output speed sensor ( starting with the cheapest ) if that don't fix it, then i guess the shop told the truth.

 

Had same issue with my 98. Tranny was over heating when I hit the mountains, I installed a aftermarket tranny cooler and have not had any problems since.

 

The avengers will not flash transmission codes, but ifyou lost 3rd and 4th gear you may have a broken hub/w shaft. The trans would need to come out for repairs.

 

wouldent you know if you blew gears? i barley felt anything.
