Default what to do about a dead short

hello, my amp wire wore through and touched the hood bolt, causing the gauges to jump and the dash lights to flash on and off and the tranny went into limp mode. a block later the car stalled and didnt start back up. i got it home to realize that this had happend and took the melted wire out. so it has already been determinied that i dead shorted the car. (thanks sappro) but now it wont start. (i recharged the battery) there is fuel, spark, and compression, but it will just crank forever and not start. when i try starting it, the dash lights all dim if this helps at all. i was told i could have fried the computer, so i changed both of those computers and it didnt do anything. what else could it be? has anybody ever had this before? what should i do?

how did you manage to get 2 of the right computers so fast? where did you get them? how much did you spend?

I was telling you, IDK now many times, diagnosis is what you need to do. just don't go throwing parts at something hoping to fix it. I know you don't have a scanner, but really the only way to really fix this is to read the computers.

did you check all your fuses?

you said you got spark and fuel but no fire. did you try just spraying a little starting fluid to see if it fires?

maybe you fried a sensor that's critical to it running, maybe you have bad connections at the battery, wires, fuse block, grounds and soooooooooooo much more it could be.

when your ready to quit, I'll come and haul it out for you.

i doubt you could visually inspect all the circuitry for a failure especially at the electronic microscopic level.

a scanner would sure help to figure out what's going on.

I'd run a CPS test and check the ASD relay
