Default Wont shift out of 1st!!

Hey guys. My girlfriends '97 Dodge Avenger ES 2.5 auto with over drive wont shift out of first. I checked the fluid level and its good. She also said that it was starting to run really hot. I noticed that the passenger side rad. fan isnt working. I plugged the drivers side fan into the passengers harness and it no longer worked either. I checked all fuse links and fuses and everything looks good. I thought I would post on here to see if this is a fairly common thing or not. Thanks for the time to read and for the replies!

Also, Did some calling around and some friends said that it may be a sensor on the tranny. From the book that I have on the car the only sensor I can find is the transaxle range sensor. And it looks like you have to open the pan, and remove the valve body. :S

there are two input and output speed sensors and they are screw in easy to replace
the output one causes speedo to not read and limp mode
input causes improper ratio and limp mode

don't just guess, put it on a real scanner to see what the trans computer has for codes and data.

I found the output sensor. Where is the input sensor located?

12" to the front of the transmission from the output speed sensor. exactly in line.. but don't just guess it's a speed sensor there's dozens of things that will cause no shift.
