Default 97 Avenger excreting white smoke

Alright yet again I come for some advice. It's the ES 2.5 and has white smoke that looks to be coming out of the exhaust manifold, and even the resonator. Need some input on possible causes so I have a better chance of attacking the issue. It's all new to me.

not coming out the tailpipe? Only the manifold and resonator? Are there big holes in the manifold and resonator that are leaking exhaust gasses?

White smoke is usually coolant in the combustion chamber. Sounds like a head gasket or cracked head.

No holes that are noticeable. And nothing out of the muffler.

I'm trying to understand how smoke is coming OUT of the exhaust manifold and resonator if there are no holes in them. The only hole in the exhaust system is the hole at the tailpipe for exhaust gasses to exit. While true, white smoke is coolant, it should be coming out of the tailpipe.

Is there anything at all coming out of the tailpipe? Could it be plugged up?

That's what I'm not understanding either. I'm guessing the holes might be to small for me to actually see. An the only time anything comes out of the tail pipe is if I mash down on the gas. I think I'm just gonna have to take it into the shop. Which saddens my pockets.

Are you sure something is not dripping onto the exhaust manifold and burning?

Are you sure your muffler isn't plugged? This would cause the exhaust to back up and come out any hole it can find. The moisture build up in the exhaust would make it look white.
