If you look at the bottom hole, that should have the welded bolt going through it and it should be tight. The bolt above that should be tight too, but that is the only part that should move..the shaft, not the entire bracket. I would definitely check it again to be sure that the bottom nut and washer are tight.

Nope, it should not move at all. Check the welded bolt and make sure that it didn't break free from the weld. The bearing is the only thing that should allow movement of the shifter, that bottom bolt should not allow the purple bracket to move at all. You may need to put a washer on the welded bolt, then the bracket, then another washer, and finally the nut.
The bracket should not move at all.[sm=smiley20.gif]

ah ha i think i figured it..at the endof the stock bolt for the shifter its round and not allowing the purple peice to go all the way to the end causing it to move forward so i need to grind it down like a millimeter or so then it should fit all the way across so hopefully thats the end of my problem all this for a shirt shifter lol

I think I know what you're saying. Sounds like what you're telling me is that the bracket wasn't sitting on the ledge like these two are.

This is the one I just installed in my buddy's car. Notice the little gap between the bracket and the ledge? It doesn't matter if it's there or not. That thing is tight and it may move, if he shifts it hard, but I put enough loctite on the bolts so that it shouldn't come loose in the near year or so (if left alone). This one was set on 50% shorter throw.

This one is mine...ignore the mess. See how the bracket sits on the ledge? Also, if you can see, I've got my linkage in the 35% shorter throw and not on the very bottom hole.

I would try every option, like a rubber mallet before you start trimming anything. You never know what that might do if you have to buy another shifter.
