I just bougtht a 96 ES with a 2.5. The car had alot of miles, but it ran good and I need a car to drive back and forth to work (60 miles each way). So anyways I buy the car and drive away from the guys house, stop to get gas. When I pulled out of the gas station, the front flex blew and it started to skip and miss between 1800 and ~ 2500 rpm, and it idled very rough. I thought it was a vaccum leak, so I changed out the intake gasket.
Didn't help. So i figured out how to drive it, whenever i was going slow I would shift the overdrive off, this worked fine. Well the other night the temp changed from warmto very cool and started to rain,in the morning when I went out to start the car it wouldn't start. I figured it was moisture in the distributor cap. So I took the cap off and cleaned it. Still wouldn't start. Pulled the plugs and they were flooded. So I went and got new plugs, car started fine and runs like a dream now. Just wanted to pass on the information for anybody experiencing the same problems. Thanks to everyone here for all of the good information.
