Default Air Filter + check engine light

Hi,

I own a 1996 Avenger, and last week i decided to puton a ConeAir Filter to replace the stock one.
It works fine and it give mea little morepower.

After a full day testing it, i've decided to show it to one of my friend.

So, I was park in a parking lot sitting in my car. I decided to start the engine andgive it some throttle justto let hear the sound of my filter to my friend. I took me about 5 sec. and then the check engine light up.

Iwould like to know what could be the cause of that.(CHECK ENGINE LIGHT)
His there any sensor or what ?

Now i put the stock filter back on and unplug the battery about 10 min to reset the computer.
No more check engine light.

Please help me !
I would like to put ona cold air intake, but i don't want to break anyting and even have a check engine light always on.

N.B: I just want to let you know, that i'm From Quebec, i not a perfect bilingual, so excuse me if the question are not very clear. I try to do my best to be understand. Thanks !

Also if ur n a rush you can just Click on the top left that says "Dodge Recalls & TSB's" I think in there they have a section where it list ALL the codes for our cars. If its not there its one page back where your at the Dodge Forum Home page under what listing I don't know.

You have a 12, 21, and 55. I'm not sure where the extra "1" came from, unless you got a 51, which states a lean condition in one or both banks (front/rear o2 sensor). I don't know if you have a V6 or I4, not that it matters a whole lot, but 51 for an I4 just means lean and 51 for a V6 is what I stated above.

12 = just means that power was removed within the last 50 times you started the car - normal since you removed the battery to reset the light.
21 = means that there's something wrong with one of the o2 sensors or it's readings (again, it's motor defined)
51 = means a lean condition in one or both banks (front/rear o2 sensor), if you have an I4, it just states a lean condition (because they only have one bank) - makes sense since the RAM sucks in more air, it's just hot air.
55 = means end of trouble codes

A "P" code will narrow it down and you can get those codes from Autozone and they check them for free. This also happened to me when I installed a short RAM. In the end, the RAM injested hotter than "normal" air. With the stock box, air that is injested is ambient (that's the whole theory with the box) but the RAM injests engine bay air which gets even hotter when it's been driven for awhile.

If you could, do the key dance again or get the codes read and repost.
**ok, well, I'm not sure why that just got the strike outs, but that's not me. So, try to read "between the lines", lol.**
***ok, well, now they're gone....I'm must be getting old, lol***
