Anyone up for a free 96 Dakota, new rear drums and shoes, e-cables, driveshaft hanger bearing, transmission and windshield. It will be heading to the landfill to keep that other 96 Dakota that I've been robbing parts from as a companion.

With our strict vehicle safeties in this province this truck will never pass with a cracked frame, just noticed this when I was reinstalling the exhaust pipe back up to the manifold on the passengers side.

I'm beyond words to express my anger.

Now that really sucks. Can you repair the frame, and will it pass?

I have to live in one of the most stupid provinces, when you purchase a vehicle your required to have a safety inspection. After that initial inspection you can own the vehicle for the next 20 years and never ever again required to have it inspected.

Yea the frame is repairable but would need to be inspected for integrity then the safety before you can get insurance. Had the truck already been inspected this crack in the frame would be a non issue, just make the repair.

There are a few guys around that will sign off on an inspection, but those in the know are very secretive.

Yes, yes it would. I don't think we get enough snow around her to make the investment worth while though.

Found an 04 4x4 Dakota with the 4.7 engine that has been parked for a couple of years, what issues if any do the 4.7 have.

I've only spoke with the owner over the telephone and have not yet had a visual on the truck, said the starter quit. It's a reservation vehicle most do not do their own repairs. The nearest town to this truck is like 40 miles, I'm going to have a look at it next week.

There's another Dakota 4x4 with a blown 4.7 on the Res next to me, some body parts sold off the front clip but the step side box is mint and already know how much this would cost me to have as a parts truck.

I'm either too stubborn or dumb to know when to quit, but after having a few Ford Rangers find the Dakota cab much more roomy. Even though I have yet to drive one.

sludge.

Apparently the 4.7 is prone to it with blocked screen on the oil pump pick up with blocked oil passages in the block. Over heating that leads to cracked cylinder heads.

The nasty break.

Question, which years of the 2 wheel drives will interchange with the 96 Dakota
