95 Dakota BCM HELP!
I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota SLT 3.9 L V6 with 50,000 original miles. The BCM body control module has gone out. We can not find one new and are being told that buying a used one it would have to be reprogrammed. Dodge says they can no longer reprogram and can not anyone else that can either! Anyone else have experience with this? Am I just SOL?

Uuhhh ...
There's no programming to the ECU for these trucks; "it am what it am".
No VIN matching, nothing.
You should match cylinders, transmission, wheeledness, and Federal/California emissions.
You can also fine remanufactured ones; here's what RockAuto lists. Take the OEM numbers, match to yours, and Google for them.

I know next to nothing about this subject, but can you use one of the knock off programmers? I have heard some GM people are using them for bcm programming etc. Here is a link to maybe get you started checking it out....

95 is OBDI, and therefore, not flash programmable. By anyone. No matter what equipment you have.
There are aftermarket solutions available though. I know there is at least one company that will do tuning for the obdi trucks, but, it's 250 bucks a pop.
The GM folks yank the memcal (the chip that has all the engine specific programming on it), and replace it with a zif socket, so prom changes are quick and easy. The use electronically erasable/programmable chips, (and usually have several) so, they can edit their tune, burn it to a chip, and then swap the chip. In the thirdgen camaro/firebirds, people have been known to upgrade to an OBDII system from a newer camaro/firebird......
