Better gas mileage
Hey all. I am running a '93 318 with a automatic with over drive. I installed a K&N air filter. But now getting about 15 MPG 16 on a good day. I also removed the plastic plate from the grill for the intake. Anyone know of anything else I could try to get a little better gas mileage?

RE: Better gas mileage
I change oil every 3000, Replaced the old champions with Autolites: Xtreme Performance Spark Plug, Just did the tranny flush, and filter, replaced the upper and lower radiator hoses 7 months ago, replaced front calipers and all brake pads 2 weekends ago. And I have the differential gasket and oil just havnt had a chance to get to it yet. I didnt realize that the "higher" mileage rating was at 75000 at present. I guess because I have owned vehicles in the past that have rolled over the 100,000 a couple of times and were still running strong. But in any case, I will see about getting to the differential project the weekend after next, try to get to the front differential at the same time. Also, I used the seafoam and prestone (not at the same time) fuel injector cleaners. And replaced the fuel filter. The only other things I have changed out are the tires, and the shocks. A lot of time, money and work. But the truck is worth it.

trashed the smog pump and cat on my 89 3.9 4x4 ( we dont have tailpipe testing here ) then ran synthetic fluids in both axles, engine, and tranny. with just changing from regular fluids to syns. mileage went from 22 to 25 highway. the colder your climate the better the synthetics work for mileage, and it gets real cold here in the middle of winter eh.
