fronts are 5.25" and I'm not sure what the depth is but I installed a set of pioneers and there was no trouble at all! Just keep the plastic buckets installedthat mount behind the speakers. They give them better low frequency sound like they're in a speaker box!

I saw on www.crutchfield.comthat we have 5"X7" speakers in the rear. here's the link! http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...?g=400&l=J&

I got a set of 6" speakers to fit in my 93 doors with not cutting. The doors on the Dakotas are pretty deep, but if you are worried about it, pull the panel off and check....you have to remove the door panel to replace the speaker anyway.

I put some 6.5" speakers from target that I believe were mispriced for $6 so I bought em, turns out they were for $25 but anyways I took of the plastic covers and put the in the door, its a 3 peice speaker to so the door cover kinda doesnt fit flush but it added a lot more low end sound and the windows go down just fine, nothing hits.

im askin this topic because i dont want to pull the panels off until i have a set of speakers......because then either the door has no panel for a couple weeks or i have to put it back on again then take it off when i get the speakers...... and i plan on just staying stock size of 5.25

the door panel is very easy to take off and put on ... and checking the depth ....everything shouln't take anylonger than like 5-10 min. i can do mine in just a couple minutes also with my truck they put some extra room in the door for the speaker(it has infinity speakers) but when i got a new door for it ,it wasn't set up for it and i hit the window so i had to rig up another speaker(oxford)
