I am using champion truck plugs. Didn't notice much of a difference, but read rave reviews about them in 318/360s so I went with them.

Ya I would have to agree. I have had the bosh platinum+4. These fell better. They are just one step colder than stock. Which is 3924. If you want to go 2 steps colder. go with 3922. These are good for higher performance like niturs or supercharger, but not good for stock or little mods.

You're never going to get a worthwhile difference out of plugs and wires unless the stuff you're replacing is total garbage. But at that point any tune up will do. Ignition systems are victim to some of the worst voodoo racing ignorance there is, until you're turning 6000rpm and/or running race gas your stock ignition system will likely be up to the challenge. Some vehicles can benefit from an upgrade if they're meant to run low octane but are consistantly given high octane, but even then you have to startfurther up the line fromthe plugs and wires. There are no magic plugs and wires that will give you extra power.

I am running Champion plugs on 87 octane and my truck does exactly what I want it to, when I tell it to. I stomp on the gas, she hauls...

NGKs are preferred by a lot of High Performance people. I run them in my Procharged 550 horsepower Corvette.

Whoever told you that was talking out their ***, plugs are specific to their intended application. NGK's are great plugs regardless of the application. If you're not getting spark you're barking up the wrong tree, you won't fix that problem with different plugs. Also, 87 octane is just fine for your truck. 89 is too, but it's more expensive, so ultimately it's a waste of money. Our motors do not have very high compression.
