Question ~~~~~~~~~~~~Late and Hard Shift Problem~~~~~~~~~~

Hello my name is Dave. I have a 93 Dakota 5.2 4x4 automatic.

The transmission doesn't shift until it reaches exactly 25mph and than again at 45 mph and than once more at 50 mph.

example:
I can drive at 35-40 mph in 2nd at over 3,000 rpm and it will not shift until i reach the 45 and hit hard.

I replaced the filter and oil with atf-4 recently but I had the problem long before that.

Has anyone else had a similar problem and a solution. I'm hoping that a replacement isn't necessary.

Try adjusting throttle linkage to trans for your shifting points.

DONT DRIVE IT.. fix it right away.. its the shift linkage.. it also happened to me. It could also have something to do with the kickdown cable though.. which will make it start off in a higher gear and shift way to hard.. anyways.. i ran it like this for 1 day.. and they took a look at my rear end, and just from that 1 day.. there were little shavings.. so its not worth it.. fix it asap.

What do you mean by shift cable? Do you mean the tv cable that goes to the transmission?

It turned out to be the throttle valve return spring. The spring had lost its springiness

Thanks for the suggestions.
