Default Ac system problems, who has some.

Okay I saw the this section is dead today so I decided I would write up something. It's not a question, just to post up what happened and to see what kind of AC problems others have had or will have since summer is coming.

Today I tried to use my AC. It got up to the high 80's. I just wanted to make sure it was still okay. I cranked it up and instantly got a loud screeching sound from the compressor. I knew it was dead. Last year around this time me and my cousin went crazy into a mud hole. Ever since then the AC compressor had a small sqeek. (That day I killed my starter and alternator due to to much mud) So I knew this day was coming. I priced an AC compressor, and a new one is $250. So I found one at a local junkyard for $50. Slapped it in and took it to a Brakemasters to get the system filled. It costed $120. So for me this day costed me $170 thanks to 1 year ago's fun.

So who else got some problems with there AC or just post what you did this weekend to your truck.

Well I've never had an issue with my A/C, but this will be only the 2nd summer I've had the truck. One thing I have noticed though, and I'm curious if somebody else has this issue, is that when I've been running the A/C and then turn my truck off and get out, it makes a sort of hissing noise (it sounds like there is a leak). But I don't think there is a leak because it's still ice cold. Does anyone else get a similar noise?

And your right Crazy, this section has been dead all day! We were going strong all week... what happened?

Summer '06 my compressor gave out after getting in a front end accident.
Replaced the compressor later that summer, and I think I used too much oil because the air isn't that cold coming out. (Pressures are good).

I was gonna start putting my truck back together, but... it was raining out and didn't feel like it.

Alright Your back! I know how that feels. I went to the lake for 5 days last month. And when I came back tons of PM's and Tons of pages to go through.

Ya he's been posting quite a bit! He helps Alot too, especially since every other post is an Idle problem or a V6 to V8 question and they get old quick!

Looks like compressors go out and last a while after replacement that is good! As far as the hiss, I'm not to sure if mine did. I didn't hear it today, but I will check it when I use it again.

Comeon that truck needs to see some road. Or better yet some dirt or mud!
