If you have an open differential or worn out limited slip differential then yes, that is normal behavior.

if its a 4x4 with a 3.91 ratio, then its a worn out limited slip. but if its a 2WD with a 3.55 ratio, then its an open diff.

when i do burnouts, more often than not (depending how hard im holding the brakes) both wheels spin. one usually spins faster than the other. but i have a 2WD with a 3.55 ratio. mines an open diff. when i spin the tires around a corner, only one spins. with limited slip, both will spin around corners and will cause the truck to kick out.

I hate having one spin on the corner because thats just tellin me im not getting good grip and theres a good amount of streets with gravel or sand on the corners, sorta cool though when i want to in the rain because there both spinning most of the time, hopefully mine just has a worn limited slip, though i found out with a label i have that the truck came with a 2.94 ratio, Does anyone know any info about that one if it only came with limited slip or only open?

Well actually none of the ratios ONLY came with the LSD. It was an option on all. Trust me I did search when I was looking for a 3.9 ratio rear end. I found several and all were damaged in some way so I didn't get them and none had a LSD. Just lift up the rear end, with both tires off the ground spin one tire. If the other spins in the opposite way then it is a Open diff. If it spins in the same direction then it is a LSD. And my info shows the dakotas didn't come stock with a 2.94. Ratios: Dakotas came with 3.21, 3.55, or 3.90.

Well if it is an official paper from dodge I guess you do. The early years are hard to get info on.

Yea your right about that!
That also reminds me why are there so many posible and inexpensive upgrades and aftermarket products for the LA 318 but not the LA3.9 if there just 2 cyls cut off a 318, is it because it was only around for like 4-5 years or what

It is because it is a 6 cly and the demand for v6 parts then and now was never high. No one wants to make upgrade parts for something that will only sell a few here and there. I'm not sure how long the LA 3.9 was in production but I'm sure it was not 4 or 5 years.
