Ooooooooh... I was confused. I have no idea what his cat looks like, I thought he was talking about the things sticking out of the cat in the picture he put up, which are just mounts. To the OP... if your cat has something else, then yes, you'll need to duplicate it somehow.

It is not a mount in the pic. It is the smog pump pipe. Here is a quick pic.

As for your question if you can cut it off, like said before if you state law says you need to have your vehicle inspected or emission testing done then NO you can not cut it. You will need it to look like it is still stock.

ok yeah that makes a lot more sence but in MO you have to have a cat on it if it was origanlly released with one but not the smog mines on the truck but therse no belt to run it and if it did my truck passes almost everytime my cousin inspects it for me and he checks the basic needs

No, I'm not confused anymore... just too young to know the differences in the '80s emissions equipment. I understand now. If you can get it "inspected" by someone you know will pass it, then don't worry about it. But if you still want it to "look" right, weld in your pipe, bending that tube out of the way inside if need be. You already said the smog pump is unhooked, so having that tube go nowhere won't hurt anything.

my 300zx's cats were like that too. but i replaced them with test pipes

if your cousin can get your truck inspected, cut the cat off, and weld in a new peice of pipe
