Default Performance parts

hey, before I put the V8 in my truck, anyone know of anything I can do for upgrades that is half cheap.. or direct me to some parts.. not sites, as im looking for cheap but decent stuff, hopefully someone knows discount parts store maybe? I would like a Cam to make it chug a little during idle and stuff, but nothing I can find is a reasonable price. I am from Canada, so need a place that ships here.
thanks

Cams for the magnum motors are not cheap because they are billet due to the magnums using a hydraulic roller lifter. They will run you no less than $300. You could get harland sharp 1.7 roller rockers for about $375, and they will be much easier to install than a cam.

You could pull the intake manifold off and cut down the runners. That is almost free, except the cutoff wheel or blade you use. You could get headers for less than $200. Most anything else I know of is going to be very expensive.

+1 to the headers. Summit sells some that are under $200, house brand. Not sure if they ship to Canada offhand.

Yeah, those are the headers I got for my truck. They are actually stamped as pacesetter brand headers, but labled on the site as summit. They work well as long as you wrap them to keep the temp down.

when you say cut down the runners, what exactly do you mean, sorry for my stupidity. And in ur later post you said you got the summit brand that were actually pacesetter headers, how do these sound? I want a real deep sound!

If you cut down the runners, it will look like this. Sorry, I don't have a "before" picture, but you can see where it was ground down from by the lighter color aluminum...

I have a flowmaster 40 with no cat, it is a very throaty, very loud, very deep sound. I've gotten a lot of compliments from random people about the sound of my exhaust.

so you just have straight pipe? dunno if I can do that and still get inspected. But might go with the flowmasters, hear good things about those. Right now on my v6 I got a cherry bomb which doesnt actually sound to bad.
as in the runners there? does it matter how smooth and stuff it is after your done? is it noticable power increase. I cant really see in my head how that would help though.

I cant speak from experience, because I have yet to do it to my motor, but I will when I order a few other things that will benefit from it.

Doing just the runners probably wont help a ton. But if you have headers and rollers it would most likely boost the effects from those other mods. You also may look at installing an electric radiator fan instead of clutch driven.

ya, I might just put the motor in.. run it stock for awhile, then upgrade, but checking into things, the 92 motor is pretty decent stock with 230hp, and 290ft lb tourque.
