Can anyone tell me what the cable is for betwen the one side of the Carb (opposite to the accelerator) and goes down to a spring loaded lever on the transmission.
The only Dakota with a carb is the 1987. The rest have throttle bodies. The cable is called the TV cable (Throttle Valve) which is what the lever on the transmission is called.
No, it won't cause the transmission to slip, but it will mess with how the transmission shifts. The job of that cable is to fight the governor valve, so the harder you press the gas pedal the later it will shift. Without that cable you'll notice it shift around the same point despite how hard you press the gas pedal down.
