Cable??

Default Cable??

Can anyone tell me what the cable is for betwen the one side of the Carb (opposite to the accelerator) and goes down to a spring loaded lever on the transmission.

The only Dakota with a carb is the 1987. The rest have throttle bodies. The cable is called the TV cable (Throttle Valve) which is what the lever on the transmission is called.

If this were broken and just hanging there, flapping around would that cause my transmission slip

No, it won't cause the transmission to slip, but it will mess with how the transmission shifts. The job of that cable is to fight the governor valve, so the harder you press the gas pedal the later it will shift. Without that cable you'll notice it shift around the same point despite how hard you press the gas pedal down.

Does anyone know where i should look for a TV cable?

Tried autozone, carquest, Napa, Advance, to no avail

If you havn't found it at those places try Dealer or online OEM sites that are listed in the FAQ2 in this section. Or you can try a junkyard.

Most places refer to it as a detent cable or kickdown cable. I believe the only place I could find one was the dealer, but that was about 5 yrs ago.
