Probably the breather tube. If thats what it is, it just goes up to any high point on the truck... from the factory I think it goes up into the engine bay near or on the firewall.

If by a nipple you mean a small output hose thats got a 90 degree bend it could either be a vaccum line to connect the front axle, or it could be a vent hose.

well the other end of the hose not the end connected to transfercase, has a somewhat 90 degree metal tube clamps on it, and has a a hole spot to be bolted somewhere

Yeah, thats a breather tube or vent tube (6 on one hand, half a dozen on the other). It follows the wiring harnesses and fuel lines up to the firewall/transmission bellhousing area of the truck and bolts to whatever you want to bolt it to up there. All it does is let the transfer case breath as it heats up and cools down while making sure water or mud doesn't get in it if you like to drive through deep puddles.

Lol, if you're like me you'll forget by February!! I didn't have that hose on mine for the longest time, then I just happened to come across it when I was putting in the 242 and remembered, so now it's finally back in place.

Yea. Once I actually get the thing road worthy (just gotta remove and properly install a torsion bar and fix the squishy brakes/always on brake lights), I'll look thru it and fix those little things.

I also need to replace the switch on the transfer case that illuminates the "4x4" light.
