Default Need some help/advice

I have a connection on a 90 dakota for a very low price, all i know is that the truck wont start. I'd love to fix it and buy it.

Give me a run down on possibilities and options here, don't wanna miss out. this is a big one for me!

Tons of possibilities! Need more info on it. Is the starter working? Any starting issue comes down to, Is it getting gas/ fuel? Is it getting spark? Is it getting spark at the correct time?

+1 to what Crazy said! There are too many possibilities and no way to narrow them down without getting into the truck and diagnosing. It could be a sensor problem, or electrical problem, etc.

Well, I decided I'm going to buy it regardless, someone is going to help me tow it! I just have to make sure it's not gone already. It's a single cab long bed. I'll post up pics etc. once I have it.

check for spark. if no spark take off distributaor cap and turn over while someone looks at roator to see if it turns. if alls good then do a tune up plugs, rotor cap, wires, pickup plate. this is a place to start

Well i'm going to check it out and pay for the truck tomorrow. I spoke with the owner and he said it started up and runs actually, so hopefully i'll be moving it here if not i'll just drag it back later in the week. I checked out some pics. it's in pretty ugly condition, def a beater. It's a 90 2wd with an auto trans.

I talked to the owner today and he said that there was a wire in the bay that was sparking and that the truck did not start during this time. He started the truck today and said that it is drivable. That's all the info I have. Sounds like an electrical problem? Any ideas? Could it be the splice or something different?

It could be any wires. Battery even. Try to have him point out where the spark was. So you can start looking for the bad wire in that spot.

Bought the truck. It didn't seem too bad. I got it started and the engine ran, which is awesome. I should be towing it home later this week. Pretty excited, I'll have a second Dakota project up and running here soon!
