Question 125mph Speedo Swap?

Will a 125 mph speedometer from a '92 Dakota work in a '95 Dakota? I swapped a 360 Magnum in place of my factory 5.2L and am starting to upgrade the interior. Appreciate any help!

That would be a lot of work!! The big thing is the '93 and older Dakota speedometers are all cable driven, and the '94+'s are all electronic. You would have to put in a '92-93 style speed sensor in your transmission or transfer case (depending on if you have a 2wd or 4x4), then route the cable into the cab and plug it into the speedometer. Then, I don't know if the harness is the same for the half cable/half electronic speedometer sensor and fully electronic speedometer sensor, but you might have to splice some wires if they are different.

What speed does your go up to?

If yours is one without tach. You can just swap one in with tach from the same year.

The '95s go up to 110.

Oh okay, i think i remember that. How about just swap the face? Or you can buy the white face plate, that might have the 125mph. Or just leave it alone. Top speed is govern to about 105 or 110.

I have the MP ECM in mine, and it rolls right past 110. If I get the white face gauges, how can recalibrate the speedo so it reads correctly?

You have to pull off the needles, notice where they are. When you put them on make sure they are in the same place.

For you being a 87 I'm not sure if a speedo swap is easily done. But if your going to go it you would just have to swap out the face. Just read the posts above.
