Default 95 Dodge 70s 360 5 speed swap

I got a 1995 dodge ram 1500. It has a 75 Model 360 with a 1999 5 speed nv3500 4wd. Where is the speed sensor on these? My transfer case has no sensor besides the vacuum lines

I take it that the transfer case came out of the 1999 truck, too? If so, it doesn't have the VSS on the transfer case, as Dodge did away with that setup post 1997.

The VSS on the '94 - '97 transfer cases provides your speedo with speed and odometer via the speedo cable. Not sure how RPM is picked up on those years, but you could likely find out via the factory service manual. You can download you year truck's manual here - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...e-manuals.html

Is it a cable? I thought it was just a signal generator.

Oops. Yes, that's correct. There's wiring that goes to the signal generator of the VSS on the transfer case. I'm thinking of the earlier 727/904 transmissions before them that used a speedo cable.

It has a 75 Model 360
Is this carbed? No crank sensor on a 75. So i assume you are not using the pcm.

You need a tachometer and a speedometer that's aftermarket also since the pcm doesn't have any inputs to read either.

Tack goes on the negative coil wire, Aftermarket speedos use various methods for input. Not sure if there is a way to use the sensor on the rear for this. A gps speedo may be an option.
