Ok so i had a 1992 dodge dakota 4x4 automatic. i swapped my frame over from a 1992 dakota 2wd. i wanted to put my 4x4 axle back up to it but when i put the springs on the 2wd leaf spring perches, it jacks the whole rear end up dramatically. i dont want that i figured it would be level. i took the shackles off and bolted the springs straight to it, but i cannot get the shocks bolted up...any help?
yea i already know what it looks like, been looking at them for what seems like forever now thinking about what i should do. Flip the two wheel drive shackles upside down or what?
I got a buddy with a 2wd...next time I'm by him i'll look at the differences between his and my 4x4 and do some measuring. My guess is maybe the springs are different length with the shackle mounts being flipped...

so i was lookin at the tranny again while putting the last bolt in...on the driver side in the engine bay. well there are two wires, one red and one black, in between the tranny and engine block, i was wondering if they are supposed to be there or what. there is a bracket that is bolted between them right there but i dont know if the wires are supposed to be there. i know that there is a sensor on the passenger side of the compartment but there is an index in the tranny for it. its a 1992 v8 magnum 4x4 automatic.
Well like you said the rear spring shackle and hanger are different on 2wd (Hang down) and 4wd (Hang up).
But also the leaf spring perch is flipped. On 4wd it is spring Over axle. 2wd Spring Under axle. You just need to get new spring perches and install them with the leaf spring Under the axle. That will put it correct. You can get perches from most suspension shops, axle shops, trailer shops. Or from here. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-720025/
Also you WILL need to get the perches welded on once you have your pinion angle correct. If I remember right +-3deg from the drive-shaft, if incorrect you will get vibrations.
Why did you swap to 2wd anyways? I did the opposite. I went from a 2wd to a 4wd frame. In my mind 2wd are worthless.
As for your wires it could be anything. Without specifically seen which 2 wires they are and exactly where they are, how long they are its hard to say. Find out what is not connected. Maybe it is the 4wd light.
These picture may help.

i swapped to the two wheel drive frame cause mine was hacked together. once i got the bed off i could bend the frame by hand. not safe for driving. i needed to do something so thats what i came up with. i want to put my 4x4 axle back in it, not the 2 wheeler. so its still going to be 4x4. just and actual frame holding it together, not chunks of rust. also i will have stock suspension, other than the two different size shocks that were on it with there own custom uneven blocks. doesnt it just sound awesome. i was going to take pictures but, im not the type of person wanting to stop and get out from what im doing and snap a quick one. rather just get it done.
