Default Electrical problem with radiom dome lights, mirrors, etc

New guy here. Just got my 1995 ext. cab 5.2L about 2 weeks ago and I ran into some trouble. I was reading the manual in the passenger seat and my foot hit the underside of the dash on the far right side by the glove box and I heard like electric like something grounded out. And sure enough it knocked my dome lights, aftermarket CD player, power mirrors, and instrument cluster lights out. I checked all the fuses even behind he radio but all were good. I even replaced a bunch. Any suggestions? Also I replaced the fog lights which were busted and the new ones aren't working either. I check all the wires and continuity and all check out good. Any help would b e appreciated. I would also like to add I hooked the lights directly to the battery and they wouldn't turn on although I got one of them working momentarily.

Sounds like a bad ground. Check your grounds.

It's probably the ignition-off draw fuse. It's the 5 amp fuse in the PDC.
The same thing happened to me.

what you heard was probably the wire for the glove box light coming loose. that wire is positive and when you open the door on the gb it grounds out and turns the light on. before you replace that fuse i would suggest taking a look to see if that wire came loose.

Thanks for the help guts. Under the hood the previous owner had a 15amp fuse instead of 5! It was blown though. Also The wire came off so I just slipped it back on. Everything works now except my instrument cluster lights. Not really sure what happened there. haha Thanks for the help guys!

The gut(y)s are always right, even when they're wrong.

There is a connector on the back of the gauge cluster that gets corroded sometimes. Pull that of the back, clean it up, put a little dielectric grease on it and slide it back on. That should do the trick.

Hahaha I was excited and missed the y, but I'll have to check both of those out and see what happens. It would help out a lot since lights kinda scarce at night haha

That ign off draw fuse worked for me too! Your inst cluster lights though... I cleaned, dielectric greased, twisted the harness so the tension of it trying to unwind so it'll make consisent connection to the pins, yada yada yada! Finally I pulled the cluster, put it on my bench, and wiggled thre pins. 2 were loose in the circuit board so I put a deep socket on the bench and laid the circuit board on top with the loose pin inside the socket. Then I lightly tapped the other side of the pin with a small flat punch. This re compressed the flanges to the board. Then I did the same to the other one. Beware!!! Do NOT hit too hard. You can always tap it more to get it tighter, but you cannot un break your circuit board! Now that being said, th other fixes lasted for months but returned. I did this just under a year ago and all is awesome! Good luck!
