Default Power door locks 94 Dakota

One power door lock on one side, works intermittenly.Mostly it doesn't.I pulled the switches out and checked for power with a volt meter and a test light.Got power to one swich and not the other one, although I did get power to both switches but only for a minute or so.I know they are wired together,to control both doors from one side. Can one take a jumper to the powerless switch to see if it works?Under the dash inside the door is very tight and I do not even know where or how to begin finding this.Probably beyond my capabilities.I was thinking if the jumber makes both doors work, maybe I could just splice a hot wire into the bad and make it work that way withought having to rewire everything.I do know it is not the switch or the fuse.Any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like you got a wire problem. Just test for power and ground at the correct location at the switches. Then test for continuity in between the switches at the wires that cross. We have the service manual in the FAQ which has the wiring diagrams. It will be your best tool in your search.

The FAQ is just a few posts above this one. Click on it and go down to the Service Manual section on that page.

When I jiggeld the wires in the boot inside the door jamb, where it goes into the cab,I got the locks to work.Between the door and the cab.You think I can assume it is in the wires right there? What if I replace part of the wire say about 2 feet or so?It acts like a short. However the lock doesn't stay working.Sound to easy? Thanks
