Default Tranny slips when warmed up

I just bought this 94 Dakota 4x4 with a v6. The tranny slips once it gets warmed up. Fluid looks and smells clean. Any ideas I'm new to owning a dodge truck. It has 136000 miles. Thanks

I let the truck warm up and checked the fluid and it was about a 1/2" on the stick just covering the M in Min.

If it's reading "Min" it's actually too low.

As Per the FSM:

(b) Correct maximum level is to MAX arrow
mark. Correct acceptable level is to OK mark in
crosshatch area. Incorrect level is at or below MIN
dot.
(c) If fluid is low, add only enough Mopar ATF
Plus to restore correct level. Do not overfill.
(d) If transmission is overfilled, fluid can be
removed with 1/8 to 3/16 in. diameter tubing and
suction gun. Tubing will have to be adapted to noz-
zle of gun and be long enough to extend down fill
tube and into transmission oil pan
Fluid level is suppose to be checked while vehicle is in neutral as well.

Good Luck!

Yes and engine running at warm temp. And level ground. Check it 4-5 times, clean it off in between.

Had it on level ground and check 3 or 4 times, but I'm thinking since its low I should drop the pan change the filter and add new fluid. Also figure out how to adjust the bands. I just bought this truck so I have no history on it.

Yes that is best. The service manual is in the FAQ in this section. It has all the details on the band adjustments.

So do I need a inch lb torque wrench to adjust the bands? What do mean you over tightened them?
