Ok so the tranny is out , had a couple of days off so i pulled it. Here is the problem. The shaft is broken from my T/C. would that cause the leak and where is the chunk...? It is no where to be found?
Thanks in advance
Im sorry i thought the pic posted. It is on the Torque Converter.
Also i have a old 318 and tranny from a 1987 dodge ram 4x4. Can i replace the 3.9l with the old 318 and tranny from the ram?
Damn that sucks. Yes you can replace it. But the other transmission may not have OD Over Drive, or a lock up Torque Converter. The 88 may not have it either.
ok so ill just get a new Torque Converter. The chunk that is gone can not be found. would this cause the leak that was pouring out of the tranny or the seal thats on the shaft. i have the seal so gonna replace it regardless. just wondering
Thanks in advance
Just a theory but I would suspect that the shaft breaking apart caused some movement under stress. That in turn would allow fluid to escape past the seal.
Yeah im thinking the same. now im wondering where the chunk went.lol no shavings in the pan, just the normal stuff on the magnet. hmmmm oh well not gonna stress on the matter. would like to put a stick in it.lol
i swapped my trans out with one from a 96 ram. it costed me $about 300-400 not including selling my old worn out trans. it would have been fun had it not been cold...lol that piece that broke probably fell out while you were driving down the road. it probly hit the guy who was tailgating you...lol
