Default 95 Dakota problems

Well first off i would like to say hello to everyone since this is my first post and all.

Im having a problem with my 95 4cyl dakota. For some reason it will not start and i can not figure out why. Done almost everything i can think of and still nothing but cranking. Redid the typical 3 wire splice but some reason my wasnt located where the pictures was mine was closer to the fire wall and only 2 wires. I know the ASR fuse is good and so is the relay but if i have the ignition on and go to put the relay back in it instantly clicks to bypass and i can not figure out why. Any help at all on this would be awesome!

Welcome to DF.

I would say check to see if you have power at the fuel and ASD relays. Then check for fuel pressure and for ignition. Check for the correct power at the computer.

It's not TBI, it's MultiPort injected. You really need a fuel pressure tester to properly check it, but you can find the test port on the rail. Crank the engine the open the schrader valve, if the fuel comes spraying out under pretty good pressure, chances are fuel is not the problem. Check for spark at the plugs, distributor, coil, etc.

Actually he does have TBI. The 95-down 4cly was TBI, 96-up 4cly was Multiport.

This is sounding like what was wrong with mine. Try taking out the o2 sensor and then try to crank it. If it runs then that means your cat is blocked. Mine quit running and checked and replaced all my fuel system and sparks and wires and it didn't fix it. Finally took to a shop and they did just that and it ran perfect. So try that.
